Beginning in the spring of 2020, my work transitioned to portraying my reaction to the COVID - 19 pandemic. Still utilizing photography and digital painting, I attempted to visually describe the panic and grief I observed around me. This opening image interprets one notable moment in US history that occurred in May of 2020. George Floyd was murdered by police the same week that the death toll from the virus reached 100,000. I heard the exact words from dying COVID patients as I did from George Floyd: I Can't Breathe.
